Meet the teacher - Introduction
Housekeeping - Each student will get an A4 plastic sheet which will stay in the classroom. This will hold any of the work you do in class and you will get take home at the end of the term.

Discuss - "What do we know about farming"
Learning Activity - In groups brainstorm everything you know about farming (types, produce, for whom, technologies used).

What technologies and tools are used to make a smoothie, grind coffee beans, peppercorns, preserve fruits, produce fresh vegetables, make jam, dry fruit....?
Explore - if YOUR family produces foods or fibres at home and any technologies, materials, systems or processes are used.
Interview - a family member to find out.
Record - your answers on the resource sheet showing the steps they take to produce this.

Discuss - Peeling an apple or peach– how to do efficiently and safely,…..using fingers, a peeler, corer, blanching
Show - the video or part of the video - Peeling fruit in a factory
Using - your computer or iPad (Year 3's) find a simple recipe and present to the class why it's a good one for the class to follow and make – highlight ingredients and steps.

Highlight - command verbs. Eg. Slice, chop, stir, sift and adverbs eg. Quickly, slowly lightly
